Connecting culture, Country and conservation.
The walbunja Rangers, established by the Batemans Bay Local Aboriginal Land Council in response to the Black Summer Fires, represent a profound commitment to ecological stewardship and cultural preservation on Walbunja Country in the south of New South Wales.
This group, led by Andrew White, includes young aboriginal rangers who engage in traditional land management, pest eradication, and species monitoring and conservation.
Our Work
The walbunja Rangers perform vital land management tasks, including traditional land management, revegetation, and monitoring threatened species, in an effort to maintain the health of the local ecosystem.
Our Approach
Our work integrates traditional knowledge with contemporary conservation practices, supporting biodiversity while preserving Aboriginal cultural heritage.
